Founded and led by Dr. Mathias Odera Aketch, a seasoned Obstetrician and Gynecologist with decades of clinical, academic, and public health experience, our clinic is a sanctuary where cervical health, dignity, and empowerment converge.
Our name—Luna, meaning “moon”—reflects our guiding philosophy: just as the moon brings light to the darkest night, we are here to shed light on women’s health, especially in areas often shrouded in silence, stigma, or fear. Cervical cancer is one of them. And we believe it doesn’t have to be.

Dr. Mathias Odera Aketch
Dr. Aketch is not only a clinician—he is a teacher, researcher, and advocate for women’s health at every level. A graduate of the University of Nairobi with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he has:
- Pioneered routine antenatal HIV screening and comprehensive care for HIV-positive mothers
- Introduced manual vacuum aspiration for safer miscarriage management
- Led research on adolescent reproductive health and congenital abnormalities
- Served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, shaping the next generation of healthcare providers
- Currently serves as an Honorary Consultant at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, where he continues to advance maternal health and cervical cancer prevention strategies
